Are we willing to be still long enough to see ourselves clearly?

Entry 7 · July 24, 2026

A silhouette of Brandon's head reflected in a car's side mirror, a pale clouded sky behind him and a white garage door beyond the mirror.

On a walk with no destination, I caught my own reflection in the mirror of a car. I had not been looking for it. For a moment it simply held me there, looking back at myself.

I do not often stop on myself like that. Most days I move too fast to catch my own reflection, let alone sit with it.

We spend so much energy trying to be seen by other people. But being seen and seeing yourself are not the same thing. One depends on who is watching. The other only asks that you slow down.

Maybe the reflection was never the point.

Maybe the better question is whether we are willing to be still enough to look.

Don't check back. I'll tell you.
